Salary Histories
To Tell or Not To Tell?

"Resumes submitted without salary histories will not be read."

Have you ever found a posting for the perfect job opening only to be faced with this statement? Divulging your salary involves risks or tradeoffs no matter what you do.

Share YOUR thoughts.

Would you work for a company that demanded access to your compensation history? Why or why not?

What have you done when faced with this situation? Why did you make that decision and what was the outcome?

Do you (or have you) work(ed) for a company that required this information as a condition of employment. Are you glad or sorry you went down that road?

Maybe you've been involved with demands for salary histories from the Human Resources perspective. If so, what's your take on this situation?
