I thought about it and realized that is basically what we do every time we fill out an application for a job. It says it right on the application under employment history--starting and ending wages. So they are getting that information before we even walk in front of the interviewer. It's difficult to leave it blank because most good interviewers will question blank spots on applications. Is it a risk..? Absolutely, because they could turn around and just offer you a pay salary just above your past ones but not the same as others doing the job. I have had that happen. I have also had it happen that they see previous history, pay, etc and say to my face: " Well since you've only done A,B,& C then we would only be able to do this for you." In general everything you do in the interviews and job hunt is a risk. It is just a matter of what are you willing to do or put up with to get there, because right now this is an employer's market and if you don't do it then 9 out of 10 times you can and will be easily replaced.
